Novak Djokovic edges Roger Federer to lift 10th Major crown

I think that this tournament needs to address this, because whether it's night or day, we just don't have air down there.

"It's OK", Djokovic told Millman.

"But once you win more than a match against your top rival, you start to feel like you have maybe a little bit of a mental advantage", added Djokovic, who's looking to get to his 11 semifinal in Flushing Meadows.

It was first played at the U.S. Open in 2005, but did not have a match in Arthur Ashe Stadium until previous year.

Upon missing a gimme volley - after Millman retrieved a lob with some incredibly scrambling - and then pushing a return wide, Djokovic staggered back into position before tipping water over his head at the changeover. "Especially after coming from injury, I think I'm enjoying this challenge".

Novak Djokovic avoided suffering the same fate as Roger Federer as he overcame the never-say-die John Millman to reach the semi-finals.

The two combatants received a standing ovation after one spectacular rally in the opening game of the second set.

The pair, both shy characters, have recently become friends, and Nishikori said: "I hope people were watching us today".

In the middle of the match when Djokovic had a 6-3, 2-2 lead over John Millman, there was an unexpected pause in play so Millman could change his clothes. Djokovic was only too happy to have a break. That was at Wimbledon in 1995, and both Kimiko Date and Shuzo Matsuoka lost in that round. But Millman scuttled that showdown by stunning the 20-time Grand Slam champ in four sets in the fourth round on a hot and humid evening that Federer said sapped his energy and made it hard to breathe.

I believe that 100 percent we changed that, so it makes it a little bit better that we accomplished that together. Carr took a bit less to get Jackson done and keep the Raiders on schedule to extend Mack the following offseason.

Keys, the runner-up to Sloane Stephens past year, took her record over Suarez Navarro to 4-0 thanks to a break in the ninth game of the first set and sixth of the second.

On the other side of the net will be 20-year-old Japanese Osaka, who won at Indian Wells this year and has used a lethal ground game and dogged determination to also reach her first Grand Slam quarter-final.

Osaka, who was born in Japan but moved to the age 3, was followed at Arthur Ashe Stadium by Kei Nishikori, who beat Marin Cilic in a men's quarterfinal. Millman fought back to take a 4-3 lead before Djokovic finished him off by winning the final two points of the game.

She pushed some balls a few feet past the baseline, often failing to make Osaka do anything special to win a point and finishing with 31 unforced errors.

Cilic did level at 4-4 but his erratic play continued as Nishikori stole the set with the help of two double faults in the tiebreak.

The No. 20 seed moved from Japan to NY at age 3, and her deepest major run is coming at the same tournament she first visited as a child. This will be Keys' second consecutive semifinal appearance at the US Open.

"I can only talk about myself", Djokovic said. For men's singles matches, the break would come between the third and fourth sets.

Once again, however, the Australian was broken at 4-4, upon which Djokovic served out to love to complete his victory.
